After two years of planning and months of renovation, the day had finally arrived. The Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House (BRMH) had our official Grand Opening on June 4, 2009. One of the four Houses opened in 2009; the Bakersfield House is the 286th house worldwide. Also the smallest Ronald McDonald House with only three bedrooms as the norm is between 15 and 30+ bedrooms.

The Grand Opening Ceremonies and Ribbon Cutting ceremonies began at 10am with an attendance of close to 300. With prayer, tours, fire trucks, and of course Ronald McDonald himself, we opened our doors to fun and photo ops. Volunteers from the East High Medical Academy assisted in any way they were asked and admitted that they even had fun. Brody Sporer led the flag salute. Brody’s family were guests at the Central Valley Ronald McDonald House  when he was born and several times since due to his heart surgeries. Presentations were made by local government dignitaries, Memorial Hospital’s Bruce Peters, members of the Golden Empire McDonald’s Co-Op, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California Board member and staff, and Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House Board members and staff. Sponsors were recognized and hard work was acknowledged.  We wish to thank each speaker and attendee for their support.

You are welcome to visit the House to look around or to see where you can help
